The HUAWEI Mate X3 weighs just 239g compared to 295g for the Mate X2. Moreover, the novelty is even lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max (240 grams). When unfolded, the thickness of the smartphone has decreased from 8.2 mm for its predecessor to just 5.3 mm. The company said that they had to develop a special version of the USB Type-C port, reduced by 52%. At the same time, HUAWEI slightly reduced the diagonal of the main screen (from 8 to 7.85 inches), and the outer screen from 6.45 to 6.4 inches.
Both displays are made using OLED technology and support refresh rates up to 120Hz. For internal, a PWM dimming frequency of 1440 Hz is additionally indicated (reduces eye strain). The outer screen is protected by proprietary Kunlun Glass tempered glass, while the inside uses a proprietary non-Newtonian liquid material for the first time in the industry, which, according to the manufacturer, is 85% stronger than conventional screen protectors. It is important to note that when folded, there is no gap between the halves of the screen. In addition, HUAWEI managed to implement full-fledged water protection of the case according to the IPx8 standard.
The manufacturer paid special attention to cameras. The smartphone is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera with an RYYB sensor and an f/1.8 aperture lens, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2) and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with an RYYB sensor, optical image stabilization and 5x optical zoom. The latter is not only a record among all foldable smartphones, but in general it is surprising that HUAWEI was able to implement this in such a thin body. There is also a 10-channel multispectral sensor and laser autofocus, and the proprietary XMAGE algorithm is responsible for processing.
A 4800 mAh battery with support for 66-watt wired, 50-watt wireless and 7.5-watt reverse charging is responsible for the autonomy of the smartphone. There is also a special version with a larger 5060 mAh battery. Processor – Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 without 5G support.
The Mate X3 uses Lingxi's proprietary signal enhancement system. There is support for two-way satellite communication, which allows you to exchange messages in the absence of a conventional mobile network. True, it will work, apparently, only in China.
The price of HUAWEI Mate X3 is far from budget. So, the basic version of 256 GB costs $1905 in China. The 512 GB variant is priced at $2,051, while a special version with a larger battery and 1 TB drive can be purchased for $2,345.
